Meadows marches on

The area's longest winning streak in girls basketball reached 16 games as Rolling Meadows completed pool play at 3-0 in the Season's End Tournament at Fenton High School.

Sophomore Alexis Glasgow scored 21 points (2 3-pointers) for the second straight game to help the Mustangs post a 62-23 victory over Chicago Academy on Monday night in Bensenville.

Sophomore Jenny Vliet added 12 points and classmate Jackie Kemph 8 as the Mid-Suburban East leaders improved to 18-3.

"It was a nice opportunity to get a lot of people some minutes," said Mustangs coach Todd Hatfield, who club recieved a 3-pointer from sophomore Samantha Kay.

Hersey 58, Latin 32: Senior guard Jen Hall (22 points, 4 3-pointers), Renee Poulos (9), Corinne Busby (8) and Ashley Raulli (7) were top scorers for Hersey (13-8), which also went 3-0 in pool play of the Season's End Tournament.

In winning for the eighth straight time, the Huskies were led on the boards by Maggie Hogen (11 rebounds), Poulos (10) and Casey Weyhrich (6) while Busby handed out 6 assists.

Huskies junior Erica Hill (4 points), a 6-foot-1 forward, scored her first varsity points.

St. Viator 52, Riverside-Brookfield 44: Senior Mallory Hess scored a career-high 17 points followed by Erin Fabbri (11 points) and Lauren Rooney (10) as the Lions (13-9) improved to 2-1 in the Season's End Tournament.

"We played a solid game on both ends of the floor for 32 minutes," said Lions coach Paul Bjerkness. "The defense was led by Morgan Hess, Lauren Rooney, Justice Johnson and Mary Cleary.

"Together we limited what R-B was able to do on the offensive end of the floor."

St. Viator plays at Marengo on Thursday and hosts Fenwick on Saturday.

"We had good energy to start the game," Bjerkness added. "And we maintained it throughout the game."
