Olivia Jakubicek scored 12 points and had 11 rebounds Tuesday night as Cary-Grove’s girls basketball team defeated Jacobs 47-26 to retain a share of first place in the Fox Valley Conference Valley Division.
The Trojans (9-5, 3-0) are now one-half game behind division leading Dundee-Crown in the Valley race.
Paige Lincicum added 9 points, 5 steals and 4 assists for Cary-Grove in Tuesday’s win while Katie Barker had 7 points and 4 rebounds.
Lauren Grady led Jacobs (3-12, 0-3) with 8 points, while Jessica Tennant added 7 points and 5 rebounds.
Harvest Christian 44, Rockford Christian Life 41: The Lions overcame a 21-8 halftime deficit to pull out this win at home. Harvest outscored RCL 17-11 in the third quarter and 19-9 in the fourth to capture the win. Sydney Doby led the way for the Lions (11-3) with 13 points, while Kylee Knox added 11 and Carol Kauffman 10.
CL South 34, McHenry 33: Leading 26-20 after three quarters, the Gators (7-10, 1-2) held on for their first FVC Valley win of the season. Sara Mickow had 10 points and 10 rebounds to lead CL South, while Rachel Rasmussen added 12 points.
Mendota 51, Burlington Central 45: Brenda Thasavong had 14 points to lead Burlington Central (6-9) in this nonconference loss. Jessica Laird and Alison Colby added 12 points each for BC.
