Antioch’s softball team traveled to Rock County in southern Wisconsin on Saturday.
The Sequoits then rocked host Milton 12-0 and 10-0 in a pair of nonconference games.
Olivia Duehr pitched a 6-inning 1-hitter in the opener, striking out 11 and not walking a batter. The visitors’ 15-hit attack included contributions from Jessie Liszka (3-for-4, 2 runs scored), Duehr (2-for-4, 2 doubles, 2 RBI), Amber Mysliwiec (RBI double), Kayleen Ressler (double), Sam Kozenski (2-for-4), Amber Larson (3-for-4, double) and Sage Keyes (single, sacrifice).
Game 2 saw Antioch (18-7) produce 13 more hits. Leading the way were Liszka (2-for-3, walk, 2 runs), Mysliwiec (3-for-3, double, 2 RBI) and Ressler (2-for-3, walk).
Kozenski tossed a 5-hitter over 6 innings, striking out 11 and walking one.
Warren 5, Mundelein 2: Megan Sowa homered, singled and drove in 2 runs, and the Blue Devils also got 2 hits apiece from Paige Dombrowski (RBI, run) and Abby Anderson (run) in the North Suburban Lake Division game.
Jessica Demski went the distance to earn the win, as Warren improved to 15-9 and 4-3 in the NSC Lake.
Palatine 11, Warren 4: The nonconference loss dropped the Blue Devils to 15-10.
Warren sophomore Megan Sowa kept up her hot hitting by going 4-for-4 with a double, run scored and an RBI. Kelli Layton was 2-for-3 with a run, and Amy Ricci went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI.
Vernon Hills 16, Wauconda 1: Megan Meline doubled twice, knocked in 5 runs and stole 2 bases, as the Cougars cruised in the North Suburban Prairie Division makeup game.
Vernon Hills also got 4 RBI from Anya Mollenhauer and an RBI and 3 runs scored from Caitlin Sernett.
Meline pitched a 5-inning complete game, striking out nine, scattering 3 hits and walking two.
Marengo 6, Vernon Hills 1: Jordyn Comitor doubled and drove in the Cougars’ lone run. Megan Meline had another stolen base and scored the run.
Stevenson sweeps Evanston: Ashley Niedermayer’s 3-homer day helped the Patriots improve to 13-6-1, as they won 8-2 and 10-5.
Niedermayer belted 2 home runs, singled and drove in 6 runs in the opener, while Alyssa Vechiola was 3-for-4 with a double, 2 runs scored and 2 RBI.
Sam Feder struck out 12 and walked one in earning the win.
Stevenson’s Emma Patrash was 3-for-5 and scored twice in Game 2, while Niedermayer (2-for-2, 3 runs, 2 RBI) homered again. Heather Cohen was 2-for-3 with a triple and 4 RBI.
Katherine Trotter was the winning pitcher.
Libertyville sweeps Prospect: The struggling Wildcats picked up a pair of much-needed wins, claiming 10-6 and 8-2 decisions.
Lauren Vogg went 2-for-5 with a home run, Nicole Kruckman was 3-for-4, and Maggie Meyer went a 3-for-4 with a double in Game 1. Andie Grant got the win.
Rained ended Game 2 in the bottom of the sixth, but not before the host Wildcats got a homer from Kruckman and 2-hit efforts from Danielle Kaczmar, Haley Hoeksel, Meyer and winning pitcher Emilie Teitz.
The sweep hiked Libertyville’s record to 6-16.
