Mundelein edges Stevenson
Mundelein’s boys golf team needed four good scores to defeat Stevenson in the teams’ North Suburban Conference Lake Division showdown, and the Mustangs got just that Thursday on their home course.
Grant Heelan and Derek Parola each shot even-par 36, and Brady Witt and Bret Cigelnik carded 38s, as Mundelein (148) edged Stevenson (151) at Steeple Chase Golf Club.
Like Mundelein, Stevenson had two golfers — Nick Geissler and Reed Aren — shoot a 36.
Jack Spellman had a 38 for the Patriots, whose fourth score was a 41.
Antioch d. Lake Forest Academy: At Deerpath, the Sequoits (166) won by 15 strokes, as Grant Smith’s 37 earned him medalist honors.
Smith was the only golfer to break 40.
Grayslake North d. Wauconda: At Renwood Golf Course, the Knights shot a 187 and were led by medalist Andres Avila, who fired a 45. Anthony Harrop had a 46.
Luke Bernard’s 46 paced Wauconda.
Grant d. Waukegan: At Bonnie Brook, Michael Carrier shot a 42 to lead Grant (189) past host Waukegan (203).
Richard Huber had a 44 for Grant.
