Czeszewski, St. Viator bring the bats

Jack Czeszewski just missed hitting for the cycle but still had a perfect day for St. Viator in its 9-3 nonconference baseball win at Rolling Meadows on Thursday.

The sophomore went 3-for-3 with a homer, triple and double, hit a sacrifice fly and drove in 2 runs. Cory Kay also homered and drove in 2 runs and Rick Perotti and Jake Mastrangeli had 2 hits for the Lions (6-3).

Matt Hendricks, Steve Heer and Jon Bonell had 2 hits for Rolling Meadows (3-9).

Leyden 7, Proviso West 2: Carlos Olavarria and Eric Palmer homered and junior Joe Motyka got the victory as Leyden (8-5) allowed only 2 hits in the West Suburban crossover.

Lake Zurich 7, Fremd 3: Kurt Kaufman homered for Fremd (4-4) in the nonconference loss.
