Nicor Gas wins 2022 Midwest Energy Efficiency Alliance Award for providing savings, support to customers at height of the pandemic

The Nicor Gas Energy Efficiency Program took top marketing honors at the Midwest Energy Efficiency Alliance's (MEEA) 18th Annual Inspiring Efficiency Awards. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, the team delivered comfort and energy savings through a special care package initiative for customers in need.

Through the care package initiative, Nicor Gas delivered 52,000 pounds of groceries and essentials including hand sanitizer, energy assistance information and 11,000 energy-saving kits to income-eligible customers in the last year. In addition, the team provided free services including home energy assessments, furnace replacements and air sealing and insulation to bring comfort to 400 customers.

"This is our community as well and we are committed to supporting our customers when they need it most," said Kelly Lena, director of energy efficiency services at Nicor Gas. "Our team looks forward to continuing to provide our 2.2 million customers across the state with the energy education and support they need this year."

MEEA is a collaborative network, promoting energy efficiency to optimize energy generation, reduce consumption, create jobs, and decrease carbon emissions in all Midwest communities. The Inspiring Efficiency Awards recognize Midwest leaders who deliver groundbreaking advancements in energy efficiency in five categories: Leadership, Education, Impact, Marketing, and Innovation.
