Softball/Fox Valley roundup
Elgin 4, St. Charles East 1: Coupled with Batavia’s upset of St. Charles North, this win kept Elgin’s slim Upstate Eight River hopes alive and inched senior Maroons’ standout closer to the school’s single-season strikeout record. Anna Eckholm hit a 2-run home run and Perryman (15-7) struck out 15 with 3 walks to lead Elgin. Perryman now has 299 strikeouts this season. The school record of 322 was set in 1996 by Elizabeth Waller. Perryman was also 2-for-3 with an RBI for Elgin (17-10, 10-6), which is again just 2 games behind SCN in the River race, but with only 3 conference games to play. Elgin hosts Larkin for the Maroons’ Senior Night at 7 p.m. today at Judson University.
Burlington Central 12, Harvard 2: The Rockets won their 13th straight and 16th in their last 17 games in this Big Northern East game.
