BACOA Income Tax Assistance: Barrington Area Council on Aging is offering the AARP Tax Assistance Program. Trained AARP volunteers will assist seniors with their taxes at the BACOA office in the Prairieview Building at The Garlands of Barrington, 6000 Garlands Lane, suite 200. Appointments are offered on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from Friday, Feb. 5 through Tuesday, April 13. Northwest Culture Bus: 10 a.m.-3 p.m. alternating Wednesdays from Jan. 13-March 24. The winter session of the North/Northwest Culture Bus, sponsored by the Barrington Area Council on Aging and CJE-Senior Life provides a series of cultural outings designed for people experiencing early memory loss. Free Tax Service: By appointment 9 a.m.-noon Wednesdays and Fridays Feb. 3-April 14, Elk Grove Sheila Ray Adult Center, 225 E. Elk Grove Blvd., Elk Grove Village. Seniors ages 60 and over and those with low to moderate incomes can sign up to have their 20009 federal and state income tax returns prepared by volunteers from the IRS-AARP Tax Aide Service. The Barrington Area Council on Aging is offering free memory screenings designed to promote early detection and intervention for those concerned about memory loss.
