MSL Cup postponed to Thursday

Inclement weather forced the postponement of Wednesday's Mid-Suburban League Cup girls soccer championship.

The matchup of West Division champion Conant at East Division champion Hersey has been tentatively rescheduled for 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Hersey's Roland Goins Stadium in Arlington Heights.

However, the game may start earlier if bad weather is an issue again. A decision will be made on the start time by Thursday afternoon.

Belmonte to play baseball at North Park: Conant senior catcher Joe Belmonte, a three-year varsity starter, has committed to play at North Park University in Chicago. Belmonte leads the Cougars in hitting at .347 with 3 homers and 9 RBI.

North Park is 30-10 and won a share of its first College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin title since 1990.

Etienne to play football at Williams College: Barrington senior wide receiver/running back/kick returner JL Etienne will play football at Williams College in Williamstown, Mass. Former Barrington players Chris Rudnicki and J.C. Stickney played for Williams last season.

Baseball correction: Sophomore David Shapiro went 2-for-3 with a homer for Wheeling in Tuesday's game against Palatine.
