Fracek, Antioch claim Prairie win

Alex Fracek owned the glass for Antioch’s girls basketball team Friday night.

The junior forward grabbed 24 rebounds, including 18 on the offensive end, and scored a team-high 13 points, as the Sequoits defeated visiting Round Lake 56-37 in North Suburban Prairie Division action.

Antioch (15-9, 7-3) collected an impressive 64 rebounds. Megan Borries added 10 points (three 3-pointers), 9 rebounds and 4 assists, while sophomore Carly McCameron also played strong in the victory, pulling in 7 rebounds while scoring 8 points.

Abby Augustin also played a role in the Sequoits’ domination of the boards, getting 8. Paige Gallimore scored 9 points for the Sequoits.

Round Lake (2-21, 0-10) was led by Destiny Brown’s 11 points.

Vernon Hills 52, Grant 33: Sydney Smith scored 19 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, as the Cougars improved to 22-2 and 10-0 in the North Suburban Prairie, clinching a share of the division title.

Lauren Webb added 11 points and 5 rebounds. Haley Lieberman and Alina Lehocky had 7 rebounds apiece. DePaul-bound Meri Bennett-Swanson missed the game due to a band commitment.

Grant (9-14, 4-6) was led by Kaylie Kanzler, who scored 6 points. Tania Trbojevich and Sadie Contreras added 5 points apiece. McKenzie Burton, Emily Kerr and Jasmine Sangster each had 4.

Stevenson 62, Lake Forest 31: All 11 players scored for the Patriots, who sank a season-high eight 3-pointer.

Sophia Way led the way with 19 points, including four 3s, as Stevenson improved to 15-8 and 8-2 in the North Suburban Lake Division.
