Advocate Sherman celebrates first year of Empowered Pregnancy program

Advocate Sherman Hospital will be hosting the one year anniversary of their Empowered Pregnancy program from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 23, at the Medical Office Building fourth-floor conference room on the hospital campus, 1425 N. Randall Road, Elgin.

The Empowered Pregnancy program seeks to empower women with the knowledge, relationships, and experiences to make their pregnancy and motherhood all they want and need it to be.

Along with refreshments, and raffles, the following topics will be covered by community partners, focusing on the journey beginning at whatever stage attendees are in:

• "Budgeting Basics" by Primerica;

• "Nutrition: Eating for Two" by Michelle Mansfield, holistic health coach;

• "What is Cord Blood?" by Cord Blood Registry;

• "Parenting Based on Your Values" by Loving the Pregnant You;

• Gentle prenatal yoga by Ohm Mother Yoga.

All women are welcome to attend this free workshop whether they are thinking of planning a family, are pregnant, have a newborn, or are alumni of this program. Attendees are encouraged to bring someone from their support network and delivering at Advocate Sherman Hospital is not a requirement.

Personal certified childbirth educators are present at each of the four workshops in this free four-part educational series to help women navigate through their pregnancy.
