Maryville to host first state legislative tour of its Bartlett campus August 22

Maryville Academy will host the Illinois Collaboration on Youth legislative outreach tour for the first time on its Eisenberg campus in Bartlett Tuesday, August 22, from 9:30-11:00 a.m.

The Bartlett campus is located at 951 Bartlett Rd. Bartlett, IL 60103.

ICOY, formed in 1979, shares a legacy of advocacy and hands-on support that works to shape policy and form practices that help at-risk youth.

"We are excited to support Maryville Academy with this event, and to celebrate their 140th anniversary," said Andrea Durbin, CEO of ICOY.

"This is a great opportunity for members of the Illinois General Assembly to meet with community-based providers serving their districts to learn more about local and systemic challenges and needs as we work collaboratively to promote safety and advance child and family wellbeing," added Durbin.

Fred Smith, administrator of Behavioral Health Services at Maryville, also shares Durbin's excitement.

"We look forward to collaborating with ICOY and our state legislators and other community providers who are visiting and touring our Bartlett campus as we celebrate our 140 years of service to children and families," he said.

Smith said it is a great opportunity for legislators to witness the excellent work that our staff provides for the children entrusted in our care. "It also allows us to show our gratitude and thanks to our state legislators and community partners," said Smith.

Evelyn Smith, Maryville's associate executive director, said she cannot wait to show visitors what Maryville is doing. "Our programs at Maryville change lives and it is remarkable what our staff has done to improve the lives of our children through the 140 years that we have been around," she said.

"Our residential programs on the Eisenberg campus are great examples of what a meaningful and nurturing collaboration among us - Maryville, ICOY, legislators and partners - can do to change the direction of our children's lives," added Smith.
