DuPage Symphony Orchestra celebrates 'Luck o' the Irish' March 16

On Saturday, March 16, the DuPage Symphony Orchestra invites you to celebrate St. Patrick's Day with Stanford's "Irish Rhapsody No. 1" and Amy Beach's "Gaelic Symphony," along with Isabella Brown, 2019 Young Artists Auditions winner, performing Dvorák's Violin Concerto in A minor.

In addition to his six "Irish Rhapsodies," Irish composer Charles Villiers Stanford wrote seven symphonies and a whole array of choral works for church performance.

The American composer and pianist Amy Marcy Cheney Beach had her Symphony No. 1, Gaelic, premiered in 1896 by the Boston Symphony Orchestra, as the first symphony ever written, premiered, and published by an American woman.

Come early to enjoy Irish tunes and light refreshments in the lobby. Valet parking available beginning at 6 p.m.; preconcert lecture starts at 6:30 p.m. For real-time parking information in downtown Naperville, visit the website at www.dupagesymphony.org.
