Bridge Communities celebrates lives transformed at spring luncheon June 16
Bridge Communities' "Celebrating Women, Transforming Lives" returns Friday, June 16, to the Danada House in Wheaton.
From 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., attendees will enjoy a champagne welcome reception, a gourmet luncheon by My Chef, and a moving program that recognizes and honors our community leaders and Bridge graduates who exemplify all that is possible through the Bridge program.
Hosted by ABC 7's Rob Elgas, the event will recognize Erica Nelson for the Transforming Lives Award and Maria Salgado for the Life Transformed Award.
Nelson is on the faculty of the Lake Forest Graduate School of Management. She also manages her own business training and development company, Nelson Performance Development, LLC. Having a passion for education, she served on the Glen Ellyn Elementary District 41 board of education for 12 years and is currently on the board of several nonprofit and community organizations, including Partnership for Educational Progress, Glen Ellyn Children's Resource Center, and One Community.
As a community leader, Nelson has been recognized with the Glen Ellyn Elementary District 41 Those Who Excel Award, the Glen Ellyn Hometown Hero Award for community service, and the Contribution to Learning Excellence Award from Lake Forest Graduate School of Management.
When Maria Salgado escaped a toxic relationship, two mothers in her church's single moms support group recommended she contact Bridge Communities. As soon as she entered the program, Salgado set both professional and financial goals. In the program, Salgado worked with the Employment & Adult Education team to identify her professional skill set and find a new position. Last November, all her hard work paid off when Salgado closed on a new townhouse for her family.
Throughout her time in the program, Salgado shared with and supported other Bridge clients. Today, Salgado continues to share what she has learned at Bridge with the single mothers in her support group.
All donations at the event will be matched up to $20,000 by matching donor, DuPage Medical Group Charitable Fund.
Tickets are $75. VIP tables of 10 are $1,000, VIP tickets are $100, and general tables of 10 are $750.
