New Exhibit by Artist Kay Thomas Opens in YMCA Community Gallery
North Suburban YMCA's Community Gallery is showcasing Highland Park artist Kay Thomas in March. All paintings are for sale with a portion of the proceeds benefitting the Y's Visual Arts Program.
Known for her watercolor work and passion for Asian arts, Thomas studied Sumi-e with Motoi Oi and Evalyn Aaron and Chinese painting at the School of Chinese Brushwork in New York City with Wang Chi Yaun. She continued her study of Chinese painting in Chicago with Monica Liu, Charles Liu and Guang Xin Qian, and attended workshops with Cheng-Khee Chee, Henry Wo Yue-Kee, Shozo Sato, and Koho Yamamoto. She has also studied oil, crafts, portrait painting, silk screen printing, monoprinting, and marbling.
The North Suburban YMCA's Community Galleries support the local arts community by giving it a place to show and sell their works. For more information about the gallery, contact Cathie Winnie at cwinnie@nsymca.org.
