Dining out: Where to treat dad on Father’s Day
If dad is the cook in your home, make Sunday the day you take him out for a brunch or dinner, or even a Maple Bacon Long John. Here are some suburban options awaiting your reservation.
Antico Posto: The Italian restaurant in Oak Brook is honoring dads on Sunday with a trio of specials, including the strawberry and arugula salad with ricotta salata, honey-roasted pistachios and white balsamic vinaigrette; slow-cooked lamb shank risotto with castelvetrano olive and tomato ragu; and blueberry cheesecake gelato.
Chicago Culinary Kitchen: Just for Father’s Day, the barbecue restaurant and Spunky Dunkers Donuts, both in Palatine, are collaborating on a limited-edition Maple Bacon Long John featuring CCK’s homemade “Pig Candy” bacon. While the special pastry will be available at both venues on Sunday, the first 25 customers at Chicago Culinary Kitchen will receive a free Maple Bacon Long John with a purchase.
Ema: For Father’s Day, the Mediterranean restaurant in Glenview will be serving up the Padre-rita and the crispy lamb ribs special.
Fat Rosie’s: On Sunday, dads can score a $2 draft beer with the purchase of an entree. Locations are in Frankfort, Lincolnshire, Lincolnwood, Naperville, Oak Brook, Rosemont and Schaumburg.
The Graceful Ordinary: It’s Ribeyes and Rye for dad this Father’s Day, courtesy of chef Chris Curren at the St. Charles restaurant. For $80, the one-day-only special features a 22-ounce rib-eye with lobster butter, red chimichurri, smoked fingerling potatoes, and creamed spinach with a house Old Fashioned. Reservations are recommended.
The Hampton Social: Treat dad (and yourself!) to the Ultimate Father’s Day Brunch from 10 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. Sunday. The $69 spread includes a chilled seafood display, carving stations (prime rib, slow-roasted pork loin), entrees, breakfast dishes and an extensive (and sweet) dessert station. Make reservations for the locations in Burr Ridge, South Barrington, Skokie or Chicago.
Kuma’s Corner: If dad wants a laid-back meal, consider this burger institution with locations in Chicago and Schaumburg. For Father’s Day weekend only, Kuma’s will be serving The Howl, which is an Angus beef patty topped with red wine braised skirt steak, Merkts cheddar, caramelized onions and fried potato strings on a pretzel roll.
Labriola: Dads who dine in at the Oak Brook location on Sunday can get a free Labriola Lager.
Lantern Pizza Co.: Don’t forget pizza! Father’s Day sees the return of the “It’s a Dad Thing” pie featuring a neo-Neapolitan crust garnished with tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella and giardiniera — all made in-house at the Downers Grove pizzeria — and Italian sausage and Parmesan.
L. Woods Tap & Pine Lodge: Hope dad is hungry, as the Lincolnwood restaurant will be plating a King Cut of prime rib with beef au jus and horseradish cream, and blueberry cobbler with French vanilla bean ice cream for dessert.
Oberweis Ice Cream: Dads can get a free scoop of ice cream with any purchase on Father’s Day Sunday. Oberweis has locations throughout the suburbs.
Perry’s Steakhouse & Grille: Opening early at 11 a.m. Sunday, the locations in Oak Brook, Schaumburg and Vernon Hills will be serving a special 22-ounce, bone-in caramelized prime rib with a homemade horseradish cream for $69. Toast dad with off-the-menu cocktails — a classic Bloody Mary, Rosé Sangria or a mimosa — for $14 each from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Saranello’s: Take dad out to brunch Sunday where he can feast from a buffet featuring a meat carving station, barbecue wings, pork sliders, bottomless mimosas and more at the Italian restaurant in Wheeling. It’s $54.95 for adults and half-price for kids 12 and younger. Reservations requested.
Schaumburg Boomers: If dad enjoys baseball, take him to the all-you-can-eat Father’s Day Brunch in the Schaumburg Club from noon to 2 p.m. before the 1 p.m. game against the Windy City ThunderBolts at Wintrust Field in Schaumburg. Brunch features prime rib, bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, scalloped potatoes, barbecue chicken, Chicago hot dogs, pastries, fruit, soda and water. A brunch ticket bundled with game admission is $65.13. A game ticket is required for entry. For details, see boomersbaseball.com/.
The Secret Kitchen: On Father’s Day weekend, Friday through Sunday, first responders and veterans will receive a 10% discount with proper identification at the modern Indian fine-dining restaurant in Schaumburg helmed by chef Aanal Kotak.
Stan’s Donuts: The Maple Bacon Long John is back for Father’s Day weekend, June 19-21, at all Stan’s locations, including Chicago, Naperville, Oak Brook, Oakbrook Terrace, Orland Park, Rosemont and Schaumburg.
STK Steakhouse: For Father’s Day brunch at the Oak Brook restaurant, dad can start off with the Marvelous Mary, the Brunch Espresso Martini or the Stiletto Spritz before digging into the steak and eggs, prime rib with bearnaise sauce, the STK Breakfast Cheeseburger, traditional eggs Benedict or the crab cake Benedict with caviar hollandaise.
