Northwest suburbs a go-to destination for holiday shopping
Looking to purchase the best gifts for the holiday season? The Northwest suburbs offer a plethora of retail options making it a popular destination for holiday shoppers.
As malls across the country continue to shutter and online shopping grows, the Northwest suburbs stand out as a retail success story, according to Meet Chicago Northwest.
The nonprofit destination marketing organization’s mission is to promote eight communities — Arlington Heights, Elk Grove Village, Itasca, Rolling Meadows, Roselle, Schaumburg, Streamwood, and Wood Dale — for meetings, convention, sporting events, group tours and leisure visits.
Anchored by the iconic Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg, one of the largest shopping destinations in the Midwest, the region continues to thrive as a vibrant hub for in-person holiday shopping, entertainment, and family fun, the group said.
“Shopping here is more than a transaction — it’s an experience,” said Heather Larson, President & CEO of Meet Chicago Northwest. “From Woodfield Mall’s premier mix of retailers and restaurants to the charming boutiques in nearby communities like Arlington Heights and Roselle, the Chicago Northwest suburbs offer something for everyone this holiday season.”
Woodfield Mall has nearly 300 stores, including iconic brands such as Nordstrom, Apple, and Sephora, as well as dining and entertainment options such as The Cheesecake Factory, Uncle Julio’s, and ENTERRIUM.
This year, the mall again has transformed into a winter wonderland with festive décor, photo opportunities with Santa, and extended shopping hours.
Beginning on Black Friday, the Woodfield Trolley will operate daily, offering shoppers a free and easy way to travel between Woodfield Mall, The Streets of Woodfield, and other nearby retail and dining destinations.
Shoppers also can explore vibrant nearby retail districts such as:
• Arlington Heights Downtown District — home to local boutiques, cafes, and holiday markets.
• The Streets of Woodfield — featuring destination retailers such as Crate & Barrel, Dick’s Sporting Goods, and AMC Theatres.
• Woodfield Village Green — offers outlet stores such as Nordstrom Rack, HomeGoods, Bloomingdale’s Outlet and J. Crew Factory.
• Historic Downtown Roselle — filled with unique small businesses for one-of-a-kind finds and stocking stuffers.
