Oxtail Market, a premium-quality meat store tucked in the corner of a strip center on busy Peterson Road in Libertyville, recently opened. It offers a variety of steak, roast, and rib cuts from pasture-raised cows, with no additives or hormones, on the third-generation Scholze farm in Humbird, Wisconsin. The meat is hand cut, flash frozen and vacuum sealed for sale at Oxtail Market.
The Picklr opening in Wheaton this summer
The Picklr, North America’s fastest-growing indoor pickleball franchise, will open its Wheaton club in June. This 39,000-square-foot facility will feature 14 courts, including one championship-size court, as well as a full pro shop and private event space. The Picklr Wheaton will be at 191 Rice Lake Square, the former Stein Mart.

Naper Settlement’s new exhibit, “Selling Kroehler,” explores the impact of Kroehler Manufacturing Company, once known as “the world’s largest upholstered furniture maker.” Now through December, the “Selling Kroehler” exhibit examines the company’s marketing strategies, designed for the changing consumer culture of the 20th century.
Plan for supported living center rejected in Des Plaines
Expressing concerns about increased 911 calls, fire safety and other issues, the Des Plaines City Council this week rejected a plan for a four-story, supported living center on the suburb’s northeast side. Heritage Woods of Des Plaines had been proposed for about 4 acres of vacant land at 2200 E. Golf Road.
