Buffalo Grove Garden Club, container planting: 6:45 p.m. Tuesday, March 11, at Alcott Center, 530 Bernard Drive, Buffalo Grove. Kathi Rose of Kaleidoscope Floral Design will demonstrate the construction of a container planting, start to finish. She will also show how to incorporate it into your landscape. Schaumburg Community Garden Club, “We Grow Dreams”: 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 12, at Spring Valley Nature Center, 1111 E. Schaumburg Road, Schaumburg. Gregg Bettcher, executive director of We Grow Dreams, a West Chicago greenhouse/garden center, will talk about how the center provides people with disabilities the opportunity for training and work in a supportive environment. Plant sales
Citizens for Conservation Native Plant, Shrub and Tree sale: Online ordering is now open and will continue through April 12 or until order capacity is reached. The sale offers more than 200 varieties of native plants including many species of plants that support local pollinators. Also available for preorder: Six garden kits designed for a variety of light and soil conditions. Minimum preorder amount is $50; orders filled on a first-come, first-served basis. In-person sale will be 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, May 3-4 at CFC’s Hill ‘N Dale Preserve at Ridge Road and West County Line Road, Barrington Hills. Bloomingdale Garden Club Flower & Plant Sale: Noon-6 p.m. Friday, May 9, and 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, May 10, at Bloomingdale Park District Maintenance Building, 259 Springfield Drive, Bloomingdale. Includes professionally grown annuals in flats, 4.5-inch and 6-inch pots, hanging baskets, vegetables and herbs, caladiums, grasses, tropicals, tuts, Proven Winners and specialty annuals. Garden items will be available for sale. A Master Gardener Help Desk will also be available to answer gardening questions. Presale ordering will be available through March 21. Those who preorder will have a chance to shop early from 8 to 11 a.m. on Friday, May 9.
