Lighting of healing courtyard at Sherman Hospital kicks off holiday season
Elgin, Ill. - The Advocate Charitable Foundation at Advocate Sherman Hospital kicks off the holiday season Dec. 1 with the annual lighting of the Hoffer Healing Courtyard.
The Hoffer Healing Courtyard Holiday Lighting ceremony will take place at 6 p.m. at the hospital, 1425 N. Randall Road.
This year's ceremony is in memory of Dr. William T. Sheehy, a urologist on staff at Sherman Hospital who passed away in November of last year at the age of 75.
The event will start at the foundation's office, located in Suite 108 of Sherman Hospital's Medical Office Building, and include opening remarks from hospital president Linda Deering.
Members of the Sheehy family, including his wife of more than 49 years, Mary Jo Sheehy, will be in attendance during the ceremony. They also will light the courtyard outside and a blessing will take place. Attendees will be invited back inside for a short reception with light refreshments.
Music before and after the ceremony will be provided by members of the Elgin Symphony Orchestra.
Contributions made in memory of Dr. Sheehy will be designated for cancer care at Sherman Hospital.
