Tryouts

• The Wheaton Briarcliffe Blazers will hold tryouts for its 2009 11-year-old baseball team at 2 p.m. Aug. 3 and 10 at BriarPatch Park's Field No. 14 on Briarcliffe Boulevard, one mile north of Butterfield Road, Wheaton. Check-in begins 30 minutes before start time.

Qualified players from any community are welcome. Qualifying age is as of April 30, 2009.

• The Roselle Renegades will host tryouts for its U-14 baseball team Aug. 9 and 10 at the Lake Park High School freshman and sophomore fields, directly in back of the varsity field. Boys interested in trying out should call Steve Caboor at (630) 893-7338.

• The Bloomingdale Blast travel softball program will hold tryouts for its U-10, U-12, U-14, U-16 and U-18 teams from 10 a.m. to noon Aug. 3, 9 and 17 at Springfield Park on Springfield Drive, Bloomingdale. • Bulldogs baseball will hold tryouts for the 2009 season Aug. 9 and 23 at Redmond Recreational Complex, 735 E. Jefferson St. in Bensenville.

U-10 and U-11 teams will meet from 10 a.m. to noon, U-12 from noon to 2 p.m., U-13 from 2 to p.m. and U-14 from 4 to 6 p.m.

The Bulldogs are also looking for qualified coaches at the U-10 and U-11 levels.

• The Lancers Travel Softball Program will hold tryouts in August for U-16 girls, focusing on incoming freshmen and sophomores, at Lake Park High School.

Tryouts are scheduled for 2 p.m. Aug. 3, 6 p.m. Aug. 6 and 10 a.m. Aug. 9 at the Lake Park varsity field.

The program will play an 'A' level competitive schedule in the fall of 2008 and summer of 2009, with training throughout the year.

• Winfield in Action fall soccer is accepting late registrants.

Season runs mid-August through October. The leagues are coed ages 4-5, coed 6-7, boys 8-10, girls 8-10, boys 11-13 and girls 11-13.

Registration forms are available at the Winfield Park District. A birth certificate is required if not previously registered in WIA baseball, softball or soccer, or if previously registered late.

• Upper Deck Cougars Travel Baseball 14U Team is looking for players for the 2009 season. The team's home field is in Burr Ridge.
