Crystal Lake's Palmer House turns 150
The Crystal Lake Park District and Crystal Lake Historical Society invite you to beat the high price of gas, and have some fun at the Colonel Palmer House in Crystal Lake this summer.
The Crystal Lake Historical Society will host a Summer Sunday Open House from 1 to 4 p.m. July 6 and a 150th Birthday Party for the house on Aug. 3.
Admission is free. Visitors will tour the house which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places for a glimpse into life in the mid and late 1800's. Costumed interpreters will discuss the architecture of the home and life of the Palmer Family who built the house in 1858.
The Colonel Palmer House is owned and maintained by the Crystal Lake Park District. It is located at the corner of Pingree Road and Terra Cotta Avenue. Route 176, in Crystal Lake.
