GED to College: Attention, all GED graduates.

Now that you have your certificate, it's the right time t plan for college. To help you get started, McHenry County College is offering "GED to College" information sessions from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 15 and 10-11:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 22. Choose the time that works for you. The sessions will meet in room A119.

In the GED to College information session, you will learn specific degree and certificate requirements, start the financial aid process, get application and enrollment assistance and tour the MCC campus.

Venture into Voice Acting: Explore the world of voiceover acting with an introductory class offered by McHenry County College's Continuing Education Department from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, June 21.

The "Intro to Voice Acting: How to Make a Living with Your Voice" class will focus on the basics of a voiceover career, the mechanics of doing voiceovers and what to expect from clients and scripts. Plus, students will learn a recording studio looks, feels, and works. Everyone will have the opportunities to do an actual recording right in the classroom.

Color My World: Let McHenry County College's Continuing Education Department help you relax and enjoy the summer with "Color My World," a fun and accessible art class for artists at all levels that meets from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursdays June 17-July 22. Color and color theories apply to both artwork and our daily lives. You'll explore the color wheel, complimentary colors, tints, tones and shading of color. All levels of artists are welcome. Previous drawing or painting experience is helpful, but not necessary. The cost of the class is $55. Use Course ID NFA S52 006 when registering.

Healthy and beautiful homes: Learn how to keep your home healthy and beautiful with classes offered by McHenry County College's Continuing Education Department. Healthy Homes: This workshop will educate you on the chemicals and toxins you might have in your home and what effect they may have on our children, family and environment. Learn about alternative, botanical-based products that will keep your family safe and your home clean. Handouts will be provided with health reports and information. Participants should bring a notebook. This class meets from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, June 21. The cost is $25. Use course ID NHG S43 006 when registering.

Propagation-Growing New Plants from Old: Dividing perennials is a cinch once you know the common mistakes most gardeners make. Start some houseplants from cuttings to give to friends. Layering shrubs provides new plants for the landscape. This course meets from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 21. Cost of the class is $25. Use course ID NPG S18 006 when registering.

Green Lawns: A luscious green lawn can be achieved without dangerous chemicals. Zero phosphorous fertilizer is beginning to be mandatory in some localities. What's the difference between natural and organic? All of these questions will be addressed during this class. This course meets from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 21. Cost of the class is $25. Landscape Design: Sign up early for this popular workshop in which you learn to create your own personal, ideal and functional landscape with landscape design fundamentals and principles. Bring measurements of your home, lot, photos and a pencil. This class meets from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 28. Cost of the class is $49. Use course ID NPG S21 006 when registering.

AARP Senior Driver Safety Class: Area residents ages 50 or older will have an opportunity to improve their driving skills and possibly lower their auto insurance rates by completing an AARP Driver Safety class offered by McHenry County College's Continuing Education Department.

The two-day "55 Alive/Mature Driving" class will meet from 1 to 5 p.m. Friday, June 20 and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, June 21 in Room A103 at the college, at 8900 Route 14, Crystal Lake.

A trained AARP volunteer will host this course and will explain how drivers can adjust their driving habits to allow for the normal age-related physical changes that occur as people move into their mature years. Participants will also have an opportunity to refresh their knowledge of the rules of the road and learn how to drive more safely.

The state of Illinois has approved the AARP Driver Safety Program as an official course and completers may qualify for lower auto insurance rates. Bring a check for $10, payable to AARP, as a donation for the supplies and materials.

Champions of Change: The second annual Champions of Change event, "Laying the Groundwork for Change" will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, June 18 at the McHenry County College Shah Center in McHenry.

Champions of Change is an annual conference sponsored by the MCC Shah Center to bring together educators, elected officials, municipal and business leaders who are faced with the challenges of today's rapidly changing conditions.

Participants will explore tools of effective change management. This year's theme, "Laying the Ground-work for Change," includes presentations titled "Survey the Site," "Draft the Blue-print," "Bridge the Gap" and "Build the Coalition." These topics address successful change management, from realization of the need for change to development of consensus and sustainable implementation.

Presenters include Chico Velazquez of L.C.I. Inc., Art Petty of Strategy and Man-agement Innovations LLC, and Catherine Jones, MCC Shah Center director.

Cost is $20, which includes lunch. Registration is required and space is limited.

Champions of Change will be held at the Shah Center, 4100 W. Shamrock Lane in McHenry.

Animal Communication-Beginners: Animals communicate telepathically with each other all the time. People communicate with them, too. Animal communication is based on mutual loving respect for all living things and a deep soul connection. This class will help pet owners understand not only the basic principles of animal communication, but also how it's accomplished and why it should be done. This class meets from 7 to 10 p.m., Wednesday, June 18. The cost of the class is $39. Use course ID NAN S04 006 when registering.

Animal Communication-Advanced: Expand on principles learned from the Animal Communication-Beginners class. Pet owners will experience exercises and meditations to open the channels to send and receive messages from the animals via thoughts, images, feelings and messages. Participants are invited to bring photos of their pets to class, which will be part of a class exercise. Prerequisite: Read any book on animal communication and prior completion of the Animal Communication-Beginners class at MCC. This class meets from 7 to 10 p.m., Wednesday, July 16. The cost of this class is $79. Use course ID NAN S05 007 when registering.

Naturally Safe for Pets: The quality of a home environment and air can affect animals with allergies, asthma and cancer. Their paws or pads can absorb cleaning and floor chemicals that are linked to cancer. With just a few simple changes, you can make your home naturally safe and toxin free for cats, dogs, birds and other small animals. This class meets from 9 to 10:30 a.m., Saturday, June 28. The cost of the class is $25. Use course ID NAN S08 007 when registering.
