Grant funds available for area food, shelter programs

McHenry County has been notified that $52,692 in Emergency Food and Shelter Program grant funds are available to supplement emergency food and shelter programs in the county.

The grant amount was determined by the Emergency Food and Shelter National Board, which is chaired by the Federal Emergency Management Agency, and includes representatives from United Way of America, American Red Cross, Salvation Army, National Council of Churches of Christ, United Jewish Communities, and Catholic Charities USA.

Applications for the funds will be accepted from private voluntary nonprofit agencies or government agencies that are experienced in serving the homeless and hungry of McHenry County.
