Basketball camps: The World Class Basketball Association runs basketball camps for boys in fifth to eighth grades during the spring and summer. There are openings in the basketball skills sessions that runs April through July. For a complete listing of the camps, visit www.worldclassbasketball.org.

Baseball/softball

Youth competition: Roselle Rampage will host a free Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit & Run Competition for area youth from 4 to 6:30 p.m. May 4 at Alexian Field, home of the Schaumburg Flyers.

Competitors are divided into four age divisions: 7 to 8, 9 to 10, 11 to 12, 13 to 14, and have a chance to advance through four levels of competition, including team championships at major league ballparks and the national finals at the 2008 MLB All-Star Game.

The individual pitching, hitting and running champions, along with the all-around champion in each age group at the local competition will be awarded and advance to the sectional.

Upcoming tournaments: Two baseball tournaments will take place at Melas Park in Arlington Heights this summer. The first will be held Memorial Day weekend from May 26 to 28, and teams ages 9U, 10U, 11U and 12U are eligible. Each team will play a minimum of four games for a cost of $375 per team. The second tournament will be held June 30 and July 1 and has a three-game guarantee for 10U, 11U and 12U teams at a cost of $300 per team.

Each player will get a free T-shirt, and sports memorabilia such as autographs, baseball cards and pennants will be given away each day. Interested teams should call Jeff Schwarz from Baseline Youth Sports at (847) 398-5405 or check the Web site at www.baselineyouthsports.com.

Golf

Hole-in-one: Francis Lalibrete of Cary recorded a hole-in-one at the Lake Barrington Shores Golf Club on April 15.

Lalibrete accomplished the feat on the 165-yard hole No. 13, and it was reported by head golf professional, Chris McConnell.
