Go out for dinner, help local charity
Dine Away Hunger, an event to benefit People's Resource Center in Wheaton, will be Wednesday at the following restaurants: Egg Harbor Cafe locations at 140 N. Palmer Drive, Elmhurst; 208 S. Hale St., Wheaton; 777 York Road, Hinsdale; 157 Yorktown Shopping Center, Lombard and 175 Jackson Ave., Naperville and Houlihan's at 56 Oakbrook Center, Oak Brook and 321 Rice Lake Square, Wheaton.
Ten percent of restaurant sales that day will be donated to the People's Resource Center food pantry. No coupons are needed. People's Resource Center, a not-for-profit organization based in Wheaton, provides needy residents with food, clothing and rent assistance, as well as literacy tutoring, art enrichment, computer training, job-search assistance and more. Explore career programs at center
Technology Center of DuPage will hold an open house from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Jan. 23 at the campus, 301 S. Swift Road, Addison. Technology Center of DuPage faculty and staff, as well as guidance counselors from member high school districts, will be on hand to answer questions. Sculpture exhibit coming to Lizzadro
A collection of stone sculptures by Illinois artist Walter Arnold will be on display from Feb. 3 to May 25 at the Lizzadro Museum of Lapidary Art, 220 Cottage Hill Ave., Elmhurst. Theater troupe seeks new members
The Village Theatre Guild, Inc., meets at 7:30 p.m. the third Monday of every month at the Village Theatre, on the northwest corner of Park Boulevard and Butterfield Road, Glen Ellyn.
Opportunities are available both on stage and behind the scenes. No experience is necessary.

New to the U.S.? Library offers help
Any residents new to the country who are interested in becoming U.S. citizens may check out the Citizenship Kit recently added to the literacy collection at the Addison Public Library, 2 Friendship Plaza.
The kit, developed by the Task Force on New Americans, contains educational products designed to serve as a self-study resource for immigrants.
It includes a comprehensive guide for new arrivals written in both English and Spanish, a set of 96 flash cards with questions and answers from the civics portion of the naturalization test, a book of short lessons based on the current naturalization test, a pocket-sized version of the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution and a DVD that gives an overview of United States history, the rights and responsibilities of citizens and the naturalization process.
