Seniors invited to attend seminar

The Glendale Heights Parks and Recreation Department will hold a senior seminar for ages 50 and older from 10 to 11 a.m. today at the center, 250 Civic Center Plaza, Glendale Heights. Park district offers many new activities

The Warrenville Park District is taking registration for these programs at the park district, 3S260 Warren Ave., Warrenville.

• Adult indoor golf lessons for ages 16 and older will meet from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. beginning Tuesday with golf pro Dave Erickson of St. Andrews. The fee is $82 for residents, $87 for others.

• The Futsal 3-on-3 indoor soccer league for kids in kindergarten through eighth grades will meet from 1 to 4 p.m. Sundays, Sunday to March 23. The fee is $50 for residents, $55 for others.

• Archery for ages 8 to 65 will meet beginning Saturday for six weeks. The fee is $60 for residents, $65 for others.

• A Hot Shots basketball league for boys in seventh and eighth grades will have a 10-game season, with practices and games weeknights and weekends. The fee is $88 for residents, $93 for others. For details, call (630) 393-7279.

VFW donates cash to PetsnPatients

Wheaton VFW Post 2164 has donated in excess of $400 to PetsnPatients, a new nonprofit agency creating a network of pet rescues, pet sitters and boarding facilities to act as volunteers when a patient's health prevents them from caring for their pet. The West Chicago Cultural Arts Commission welcomes artists connected with West Chicago to submit digital files of original art for consideration for the Downtown Art Banner Competition.

All entries must be original, executed within two years of entry date and revolve around flowers. Deadline to submit work is Feb. 1.

Chorus fundraiser to be a night of jazz

The Glen Ellyn Children's Chorus will present a night of jazz and food with "Jazzamatazz" at 7 p.m. Feb. 8 at the Glen Oak Country Club, 21W451 Hill Ave., Glen Ellyn. The event features jazz pianists Bill Buhr and Jeff Haeger, as well as an auction to benefit the chorus. Tickets are $60 per person. For details, call (630) 858-2471.

Dads, daughters can attend dance

The Glen Ellyn Park District will hold a Daddy Daughter Dance for ages 5 to 10 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Feb. 8 at the Main Street Recreation Center, 501 Hill Have., Glen Ellyn. YMCA to host valentine dance

The B.R. Ryall YMCA will hold a family Valentine's Day dance from 7 to 9 p.m. Feb. 8 at the Y, 49 Deicke Drive, Glen Ellyn.

The family event features a disc jockey and family photos.
