Outlook Cary-Grove has won 21 straight regular-season games, and its victory over Jacobs last week extended the program's winning streak in Fox Valley Conference games to 34 in a row, dating to Week 8 of the 2003 season. The Trojans enter this contest ranked No. 1 in Class 6A. Following a disappointing loss at McHenry last week, the Red Raider coaching staff has been frank with the players this week as to the challenge Cary-Grove presents in this Fox Valley Conference Valley Division game. "You don't lie to them," Huntley coach Steve Graves said of preparing his players for the high-flying Trojans. "They know it would be a major upset to win this football game. You literally go in and do the best job you can. You just free them up from any thoughts of victory and any thoughts of fearing mistakes to just go out there and play as hard as you can." Huntley lost a heartbreaker in overtime to Woodstock two weeks ago and came out flat last week in the loss to McHenry. But Cary-Grove expects to see the Red Raiders at their emotional best. Because the Trojans have built 40-point leads or better in each game by the third quarter, the starters have yet to play a full contest, a "pleasant problem" that may have to change regardless of the scoreboard. "It's to the point where we're going to have to play people regardless of the score," Trojans coach Bruce Kay said. "You can run kids all you want, but there's game conditioning that needs to happen."
