McHenry County College offering baseball camp for boys

The McHenry County College Fighting Scots Department of Athletics is conducting the eighth annual MCC ScotStars baseball all-skills and specialty hitting camps. Opening Day is Monday, June 15, for boys who will be entering third through sixth grades in the fall.

The baseball camp dates are Monday through Thursday, June 15-18. All-skills camp will meet from 9 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. and the hitting camp will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

The camps, coordinated by former MCC Head Baseball Coach Tom Kruse, will be held on the college campus in Crystal Lake.

All participants will receive an MCC ScotStars camp T-shirt, a group photo and a certificate of completion.

Campers will be grouped by age or ability whenever feasible.

The philosophy of the camp is instructional. Participants will learn and review age-appropriate skills, the mental aspects of the game, improve self-confidence, ability and enjoyment and make new friends.

To register, call (815) 455-8588. Parents and participants are asked to arrive 30 minutes early on the first day, June 15, for a brief orientation and to complete all paperwork. In the event of rain, the camp will move indoors to MCC's Tartan Gym in Building A, so campers need to bring both indoor and outdoor shoes. A rain date, if needed, will be Friday, June 19. The fee for the all-skills camp is $59 and the fee for the hitting camp is $39.

More specifics are outlined and a downloadable brochure/registration form is available at the MCC athletics Web site, mchenry.edu/athletics. Click on "ScotStars Sports Camps."

Other camps being offered include basketball, soccer and softball.
