Bartlett rolls past Prospect

Mike Tomsavic tossed a 1-hitter with 2 strikeouts and 2 walks Thursday as Bartlett rolled over Prospect 8-0 in nonconference baseball action.

Greg Partyka was 3-for-3 with a grand slam home run and 5 RBI for the Hawks whole Devin Rowland had a double and an RBI and Mark McCuiston added 2 hits.

Huntley 8, Hoffman Estates 1: Tanner Funke moved to 3-0 on the season throwing a 3-hitter as the Red Raiders (6-0-1) remained unbeaten. Funke struck out 15 and walked only one. Craig Lipp (3B), Phil Pupillo (2B), Jimmy Gordon (3-for-4, 2B, RBI), Funke (2-for-3), and Matt Wolf (2-for-3, 2 RBI) led the Red Raiders' offense.

St. Edward 7, ACC 1 The Green Wave opened Suburban Catholic Conference play with a win as Riley Coleman (3-0) allowed just 3 hits with 5 strikeouts and no walks. Mike Kondrath was 3-for-4 with 2 home runs for the Wave (3-3, 1-0), Anthony Bauer was 2-for-4 with a double and 3 RBI, and David Hoeldoel was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI.

Westminster Christian 8, Rockford Christian 2: The Warriors pounded out 15 hits in winning for the second time this season. Chad Schroy was 3-for-4, Ryan Perez 2-for-3 and Kevin Elder 3-for-3 for Westminster (2-2). Steve Berglund picked up the win and Kevin Elder struck out 4 of 7 batters in relief.

Buffalo Grove 11, Dundee-Crown 8: The Chargers (1-3-1) scored 8 runs in the sixth inning but it wasn't enough to catch up with Buffalo Grove in nonconference play. Steve Schwartz was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI for the Chargers while Willie Larsen went 2-for-3 with 2 doubles and 3 RBI. Jason Langland suffered the loss on the mound.

West Chicago 7, Elgin 6: Tom Roth had 3 hits and 2 RBI but Elgin came up short in its season opener. Javier Cardenas and Adam Jazwiec each doubled for the Maroons and Jazwiec suffered the loss on the mound.

Streamwood 6, Jacobs 3: Mike Diebold struck out eight and allowed 6 hits as the Sabres (1-1-2) downed Jacobs in nonconference action. Ryan Kiesel was 3-for-4 with 3 RBI, Dylan Novcek 2-for-4 with a home run and 2 RBI and Diebold 2-for-5 for Streamwood.
