Scouting Glenbard South Raiders

Glenbard South Raiders

Coach Wade Hardtke.

Last year 20-8, 11-3, tied for first in the Western Sun Conference; lost to North Lawndale 74-54 in the Class 3A Riverside-Brookfield sectional semifinals.

Top players Trace Wanless, sr., G; Mike Rovansek, sr., G; Pat Childs, sr., F; Dylan Rheault, sr., C; Joe Harks, jr., G; Dusko Despot, so., F; Brian Duffy, sr., F; John Hentges, jr., G; Jeff Tuttle, sr., F.

Scouting report All five starters from last year graduated from a class of 10 seniors, so the defending Western Sun Conference co-champion needs to rebuild on the fly. It won't be easy with five football players just coming off a run to the state quarterfinals. Wanless, the returning leading scorer with 4.6 points per game, and Rovansek present backcourt perimeter options, and the 6-foot-4 Childs had success in last year's 3-point contest. Look for the Raiders to get out and run a bunch, even with Childs and the 6-8 Rheault, a Glenbard West transfer, on the court. Another key is having several players pitch in to take care of the ball. "We were so senior heavy last year, so this group will definitely be a new look for us," Hardtke said.
