Preview: Lake Park at St. Charles East

Game time: 7:30 p.m. today.

Last year: St. Charles East 30, Lake Park 0.

Last week: Bartlett 30, Lake Park 7; St. Charles East 49, Streamwood 6.

Outlook: Lake Park is a good football team that just can't shake key mistakes. It cannot afford more tonight if the Lancers hope to avoid a backs-to-the-wall fourth loss with Waubonsie Valley up in Week 6.

Last week a fumble, high long snap and long punt return let Bartlett snap a 7-7 tie with 17 points - the drives spanned 74 total yards - in the last 3:25 of the first half.

St. Charles East, coached by former longtime Lake Park coach Bob Monken's son, Ted, offers hard-charging tailback Wes Allen, who has 571 yards rushing.

He'll meet Lake Park linebacker Chris Buonavolanto, coming off a 12-tackle game.

The Saints' 3-5 defense attacks hard particularly in passing situations, putting up to seven in the box.

Lake Park quarterback Larry Nawrot has completed 61 percent of his passes for 677 yards, but the Lancers need to translate their average eight-minute advantage in time of possession into points.
