Planet Fitness franchisee acquires eight Chicago-area locations

EPIC Fitness Group, a Northville, Michigan-based Planet Fitness franchisee, has acquired eight Chicago-area Planet Fitness locations in a transaction completed in April.

With the acquisition, EFG’s total Planet Fitness club count goes up to 64. The remaining locations are throughout Michigan and in the Toledo, Ohio, area. The company now is building its 65th location in downtown Detroit.

The newly purchased clubs are in the Fox Valley (Aurora), West Chicago, Bloomingdale, Carol Stream, Villa Park, Wheaton, Downers Grove and Woodridge.

Members at these clubs had no interruption to their membership and continued to use the clubs as usual. In the first weeks of ownership, EFG installed new equipment in the Aurora and Woodridge locations, ordered zero-gravity Elite Massage Chairs for each club and is finalizing plans to roll out various upgrades.

Classic membership prices start at $15 per month and include free fitness training and unlimited visits to the home club. The PF Black Card membership is $24.99 a month and includes the ability to bring a guest every day at no extra charge and access to the Black Card Spa, with unlimited tanning, HydroMassage beds, Zero Gravity massage chairs and other benefits. Black Card members can use all 2,500+ Planet Fitness locations in all 50 states and globally.
