Lavelle Law leads community effort in support of food pantry

The holiday season will be a bit more joyful this year for some area families thanks in part to Lavelle Law Charities and the generosity of area residents. The charitable arm of the Schaumburg-based law firm successfully concluded a multiweek food drive in support of the Schaumburg Township Food Pantry. The drive wrapped up in time for Lavelle Law to deliver multiple vans full of donated food, $10,000 worth of items delivered in cooperation with Tony's Fresh Market, and a check for $12,780.

"I continue to be amazed by the support we receive from local residents, businesses, and civic organizations," said Lavelle Law Managing Partner Ted McGinn. "Regardless of the economic conditions, area residents always help us in our efforts to provide food security to a growing number of neighbors who are at risk of hunger."

The drive featured drop-off boxes in more than a dozen locations, many of which needed to be emptied multiple times throughout the drive. In addition, cash donations were received which will allow the food pantry to buy additional high-demand products.

Marianne Rogenski, supervisor of Program Support Services at the Township of Schaumburg thanked Lavelle Law for their efforts.

"The food pantry at the Township of Schaumburg is currently serving over 1,100 households per month, an increase of 40% over this time last year. With the increased demand we are relying more than ever on our community partners to help us fill the need. Lavelle Law has been an incredible community partner for the food pantry for many years and we are grateful for the food and the financial donations."

All the donations were delivered on Oct. 27.

"We thank all of the entities that allowed us to place a collection box in their location and especially recognize our corporate sponsors Tony's Fresh Market, Clearwater Capital Partners, Britt Industries, Norman Mechanical, Quick Delivery Service, Kleen Air, and Tenant Advisors," McGinn said. "Along with our staff and attorneys, they are a valuable part of making our annual food drive a success."
