Senior Suburban Orchestra to host 'Family & Friends Concert' Nov. 18
The Senior Suburban Orchestra, now in its 24th season, invites the community to a "Family and Friends Concert" on Saturday, Nov. 18.
The concert will begin at 2 p.m. in the sanctuary at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, 5739 Dunham Road in Downers Grove.
During this concert, the Senior Suburban Orchestra will feature the music of John Philip Sousa, Giuseppe Verdi and Edouard Lalo.
The program also includes two medleys. The first one, selections from "Gigi," commemorates the 50th anniversary of the stage version and the second medley, "Greater Loesser," a sing-along arranged by orchestra member Ron Baumgardner, is a collection of songs of the singer/songwriter Frank Loesser.
The orchestra's conductor, Dan Pasquale D'Andrea, has been with the orchestra since its beginning in 2000, and has helped develop the orchestra into an award-winning 40-plus piece performing organization, which presents up to 15 concerts per year for venues such as retirement homes, schools, and community organizations.
Although there is no charge for the concert, donations are appreciated.
