Lavelle Law Hosts Free Seminar About ESOPs and Their Role in Transitioning a Business

Schaumburg-based Lavelle Law is hosting a free seminar entitled, "Transitioning a Business: Is an ESOP Right for You?" on May 10. This interactive seminar is part of the law firm's quarterly Breakfast Briefs series, which covers a variety of legal topics that impact businesses and individuals.

The upcoming seminar will focus on ESOP or an Employee Stock Ownership Plan. ESOPs are qualified employee benefit plans that invest primarily in company stock. ESOPs can be used as a retirement plan or shareholder transition vehicle and provide significant tax benefits to shareholders who are ready to leave the company.

Throughout the seminar, the Lavelle Law attorneys will discuss the benefits of an ESOP, how to determine if your company is a good candidate for an ESOP, the tax benefits, and how to set one up at your company.

"One of the reasons companies decide to establish an ESOP is that it incentivizes employees to make the company as productive and profitable as possible," said Managing Partner Ted McGinn. "By allowing employees to own a piece of the business, they become invested in the organization's success."

"Transitioning a Business" will take place on Wednesday, May 10 and will be hosted by Lavelle Law attorneys Steven Migala and David O'Leary as well as GreatBanc Trust Company representative Steve Ryan. Doors will open at 7:45 a.m. for a complimentary continental breakfast and the hour-long presentation will begin at 8:00. Registration is required as seating is limited.
