Lavelle Law Hosts Free Seminar About High-Asset Divorce

Schaumburg-based Lavelle Law is hosting a free seminar entitled, "Issues in High Asset/Net Worth Divorce" on March 8. This interactive seminar is part of the law firm's quarterly Breakfast Briefs series, which covers a variety of legal topics that impact businesses and individuals.

For those with substantial assets, net worth, and income, divorce - an already complicated event - becomes even more complex. Special consideration needs to be given to the valuation of assets and the equitable division of them. Parties may also run into issues with alimony, child support, and estate planning that require special attention. This Breakfast Briefs seminar will look at strategies for addressing these issues and navigating the complexities of high-asset or net worth divorces. Lavelle Law is encouraging various allied professionals such as financial planners, accountants, and other advisers to attend.

"Regardless of your circumstances, divorce is an emotional and difficult process," said Managing Partner Ted McGinn. "The legal implications extend beyond the event of the divorce and into potential IRS disputes, retirement benefits, tax planning, and life insurance. So having an experienced attorney who can anticipate and plan for these issues will not only ensure each party is financially stable, but it will keep them out of court in the future."

"Issues in High Asset/Net Worth Divorce" will take place on Wednesday, March 8 and will be hosted by Lavelle Law divorce attorneys Joseph A. Olszowka, Colleen M. Breems, and Heather G. Walser. Doors will open at 7:45 a.m. for a complimentary continental breakfast and the hour-long presentation will begin at 8:00. Registration is required as seating is limited.
