Glenbard event to help families navigate college admissions process

On Thursday, Dec. 1, B-PAC: Glenbard Bilingual Parent Advisory Committee, a distinguished panel hosted by the Equity Student Achievement Committee, and GPS: Glenbard Parent Series in Spanish will present "Don't Call it a Dream, Call it a Plan."

It will begin at 7 p.m. via Zoom. Go to glenbardgps.org for the link to this webinar. This program will be presented in Spanish and English.

High school is a crucial time for students to grow personally and intellectually and to plan for their future. This presentation will assist students and families in learning more about the college application, admission and search process, as well as financial aid.

Erika Willis, Glenbard North equity coordinator and dean of student supports, will share remarks to inspire and empower all students to reach their goals.

Glenbard school counselors will discuss the college exploration process. Participants understand the significance of a post-secondary education and will leave knowing the role of grades, test scores and work experience. Information about scholarship also will be covered.

A representative from the Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC) will provide information about FAFSA, Alternative Application for Financial Aid, scholarships, grants, prepaid tuition, student loan repayment and forgiveness programs.

There also will be a Northern Illinois University representative discussing the college admission process, and a Q & A session will be hosted at the conclusion of the event.
