Explore electronics, electro-mechanical/robotics, manufacturing and welding Oct. 27 at COD

Discover academic and career opportunities at College of DuPage's Electronics, Electro-Mechanical/Robotics, Manufacturing and Welding Career Exploration event from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27 in the Technical Education Center on the Glen Ellyn campus, 425 Fawell Blvd.

The free event provides students, parents, school counselors and community members an opportunity to tour labs and classrooms, meet with associated clubs and programs, connect with COD faculty and speak to local employers to schedule off-site tour opportunities. There will also be panel discussions on career opportunities in these disciplines and industries.

The Electronics program at COD offers an Associate in Applied Science as well as various certificates in the field of electronics.

Students will engage in hands-on learning through experiments and projects designed the reflect the solid foundation of the theoretical material.

The program provides a high-quality, low-cost education, a comprehensive placement service, labs with state-of-the-art equipment and smaller classes for a more personalized education.

The Electro Mechanical Technology program at COD equips students with the skills needed to enter the industrial and manufacturing workplace with skills in several areas, including programmable controllers, process control instrumentation, Mechanical Maintenance and Electrician's Preparation. Students can earn an Associate in Applied Science degree or work toward specific electro-mechanical certificates.

The Manufacturing program at COD provides training and degrees in a wide variety of skill areas, including Automated Manufacturing, Drafting and Design, Manufacturing Technology, and Manufacturing Engineering Technology. Students can work towards various technical certifications, or they can gain the skills necessary to transfer to a four-year school.

The Welding program at COD trains students to operate robots and other automated systems that use lasers, electron beams and explosives to fuse metal. Students can earn an Associate in Applied Science in welding or receive a certificate in welding and AWS Sense 1.

College of DuPage is institutionally accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. Serving more than 22,000 students each term, College of DuPage is the largest public community college in the state of Illinois. The college grants seven associate degrees and offers more than 170 career and technical certificates in over 50 areas of study.
