Music, art and fun at Warrenville's Art on the Prairie Sept. 17-18
The annual Art on the Prairie will be held in a new location this year. The art and music festival will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 18, at the Warrenville Park District Recreation Center lower level parking lot, 3S260 Warren Ave. Admission is free.
This juried fine art show features jewelry, ceramics, paintings, fused glass, photography and many more types of art mediums exhibited and sold by participating artists.
There also will be performing arts in music and dance, children's entertainment, artist demonstrations, and artist displays for purchase.
On Saturday, Tom's Market in Warrenville will host a pig roast, and enjoy some Kool Kat Ice Cream.
The main entertainment stage will open on Saturday with children's musician Leonardo, performing a humorous high energy concert that entertains all the little rockers, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. It will be followed by Banjo Buddies Dixieland Band who perform classic Dixieland Jazz and standards spanning three decades from 12:45 to 2 p.m.
Real Steal Drums Band featuring Brad Stirtz will take the stage from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Stirtz has gained a reputation as an outstanding professional mallet percussionist providing audiences with the magic of the steel drums.
The Tin Fiddle Band, known for its blended harmonies, agile instrumentation and a wide range of music which spans vintage, rock, blues, county and their own original material, will close out the first day of the festival from 4 to 6 p.m.
The artists awards will be announced at 2 p.m.
On Sunday, multi-instrumentalist L.J. and the Ambiente Trio will perform from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., followed by the Warrenville Park District Dancers from 1:30 to 2 p.m.
Country/rockabilly artist Rick Lindy & The Wild Ones will wrap up the festival from 2:30 to 4 p.m.
The free children's entertainment will include Chris Fascione, the strolling juggler, from 11:45 a.m. .to 12:45 p.m. Saturday.
On both days, check out Pinot's Palette from St. Charles from noon to 2 p.m. and see Sue Kleinwachter's balloon tying from 1 to 2 p.m.
On Sunday, kids can have fun with Magic on the Move from 1:15 to 2:15 p.m.
