Erin Doerr Sworn In As Des Plaines Park Board President
In the annual reorganization of the Des Plaines Park District Board of Commissioners at the May 17 park board meeting, nominations for officers were offered and unanimously confirmed by commissioners.
Erin Doerr will serve as president for the 2022-2023 fiscal year; Jana B. Haas will serve as vice-president, and Eli Williams was confirmed as treasurer. Doerr's appointment follows one year of serving as a Park Board Commissioner after winning her election in 2021. Her tenure with the Des Plaines Park District began in August 2019, after being appointed by the Park Board of Commissioners to fill a vacancy.
Ms. Doerr currently supports D62 schools as a substitute teacher. Her family includes her husband Ray, and their three children - Harlow (12), Elliott (10) and Dakota (9) - all who have grown up involved in Park District activities. Doerr has served the community in various volunteer roles, including President of the South Elementary School PTO, and currently serves as a Commissioner for the Des Plaines Youth Commission. She is also a member of the Des Plaines Optimist Club and board member on the D62 Education Foundation. She holds a B.S. and an MBA from Dominican University.
"It is an honor and pleasure to continue serving the community in my new role as Board president" said Doerr. "This appointment affords me another exciting opportunity to serve the residents of Des Plaines by providing outstanding parks, exceptional facilities and top-notch recreational programs for all ages. I would like to thank Commissioner Donald Rosedale for his leadership during the past year as President of the Board of Commissioners and in his continued role as a Commissioner."
The Park Board is a legal governing authority through which the business of the District is conducted. Persons wishing to have items placed on the agenda should notify the Board Secretary, Donald Miletic, at the Administrative office, by letter or by telephone, (847) 391-5700, no later than the Wednesday before any regularly scheduled Park Board meeting. Board agendas and approved minutes of meetings are available for the public to view at the Leisure Center and Prairie Lakes Community Center. Board documents are also online at www.DPParks.org.
