Popular West Chicago Garden Club plant sale is back May 21

After two years of COVID cancellations, gardeners will be happy to know that the West Chicago Garden Club plant sale is back.

The popular plant sale began in 1999 and was so successful that West Chicago built a garden festival, Blooming Fest, around it.

On Saturday, May 21, customers will find a large tent with over 2,000 perennials and a large selection of peppers and tomatoes for sale at very reasonable prices.

Because the club's purpose is to encourage gardening in the western suburbs, they hold four "potting parties" in March and April where they divide and pot up plants from their own gardens.

The plants are watered and nursed until the sale in late May so that they are ready to go into neighborhood gardens.

Club members are available at the sale to answer questions and offer advice.

West Chicago Garden Club meets in the evening and encourages men and women of all ages throughout the western suburbs who like to get their hands dirty to join them as they expand their knowledge of all aspects of gardening.

Check out www.WestChicagoGardenClub.org for more information about the club and the monthly meetings.

Visitors are welcome at meetings.
