Ukrainian native debuts line of artisan products to support Ukrainians at Westfield Old Orchard
Westfield Old Orchard, Chicagoland's premier shopping center and lifestyle destination, has welcomed It's Oksana into The Cube for an exclusive and one-of-a-kind pop-up.
The pop-up, which includes handcrafted linen and hemp household products, clothing and accessories created by Ukrainian women artisans, was launched by Ukrainian native Oksana Ambroz-Trychta to benefit the people of Ukraine.
Ambroz-Trychta founded It's Oksana over 20 years ago as a way to spread the work of Ukrainian artisans within the United States. Following Russia's invasion of Ukraine, she moved quickly to find a way to generate awareness, funds and support for her homeland. Through her pop-up at Westfield Old Orchard, North Shore residents and visitors are able to support local Ukrainian producers of clothing and accessories and bolster the Ukrainian economy.
“What is happening right now in my country of Ukraine is unspeakable and truly devastating. However, right now, it is astonishing how during the hardest time of their lives, the women in Ukraine can create beautiful handmade creations, said Ambroz-Trychta. “The support and urgency I received from Westfield Old Orchard have been truly incredible, as I have been shopping at the center for many years. Since the opening of our pop-up, it's been exciting to see the feedback and foot traffic from the North Shore residents, as not a single person leaves without purchasing something from us.”
During the duration of its pop-up, It's Oksana is donating 10% of its sales to the Kolo Foundation to support the Ukrainian military and Ukraine citizens.
“At Westfield Old Orchard, we are always looking to partner with local business owners and felt honored that Oksana chose our center to help provide assistance to her native country and people of Ukraine,” said Serge Khalimsky, general manager Westfield Old Orchard. “As a Ukrainian born in Kyiv, it has been a pleasure seeing the level of excitement and support from our shoppers since the opening of the It's Oksana pop-up.”
It's Oksana pop-up is open: Sunday from noon to 6 p.m.; Monday to Thursday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.; and Friday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
