WeGo Global hosts benefit concert for Ukraine March 18

WeGo Global, a student club at West Chicago Community High School, is hosting a "Rocking for Ukraine" benefit concert on Friday, March 18.

The concert begins at 7 p.m. in the high school commons, 326 Joliet St., Entrance H (south side), West Chicago. Admission is a minimum $5 donation at the door.

An evening of performances featuring Vagabond, a band fronted by current WeGo senior Andrew Georgiev, joined by Gavin Woolman, Nina Bartuca and Dylan Dankel.

Karl Knutson Boutique Entertainment will be providing light and sound support as well as serving as DJ. Personal stories will be shared by students who have family ties to Ukraine.

"The war has actually been going on for 7 years, ever since Russia annexed Crimea," said Allyson Krause, a senior from Carol Stream. "Now that there is a full countrywide conflict, the world is coming together to assist the sovereign state of Ukraine, and this is something that we can do here closer to home to show our support."

Proceeds (100%) will benefit CARE, an international humanitarian organization partnering with groups in Ukraine and surrounding countries to provide food, water and medical assistance to the most vulnerable in and around Ukraine.
