Join Wheaton's DoodleBug Workshop in supporting Veterans Day collection for vets

DoodleBug Workshop at 314 S. Main St. in Wheaton has been a big supporter of the military and veterans. They have been helping to set up the workshop facility and volunteering their time and talent.

Between Nov. 1-11, drop off needed items for the troops and veterans including leftover Halloween candy, letters for care packages, protein bars and drink mixes such as Gatorade and Power Aid, toiletries, winter coats for homeless veterans, and dog food for veteran pets.

Drop-off locations include DoodleBug Workshop, 314 S. Main St. in Wheaton, and these additional Wheaton locations: City Hall, Park District Community Center, Arrowhead Golf Club and Wheaton Public Library. Plus Wheaton VFW and Warrenville VFW.

DoodleBug Workshop and American Legion Post 589 are partnering to bring Old Glory on Display to downtown Wheaton. Workshop participants are making the flag kits including the custom-made wooden stand, flag, gravel and PVC pole. If you are interested in a kit, order online at

From Nov. 7-11, a presentation of American flags representing veterans in the community will be installed at Memorial Park beginning each day at 3 p.m.

Flags can be purchased for $25 and will benefit American Legion Post 589.

On Thursday, Nov. 11, the annual American Legion Post 76's Veterans Day ceremony will take place at 11:45 a.m. at Memorial Park.

DoodleBug Workshop invites you to see the beautiful products that are being created by workshop participants at 314 S. Main St., just south of Wheaton Meat Company. They offer many seasonal and gift items - all to help support the operation of the workshop.

The mission of DoodleBug Workshop is "Changing Lives One Tool at a Time" by equipping the special needs community with vocational skills, fostering independence and building self- esteem, all with the help of our volunteers in our community.
