Montini Catholic Broncos host annual Volley for a Cure event

Under the leadership of all level team members, and with the assistance of dedicated parents and friends, the Montini Catholic Bronco volleyball team, ranked No. 2 by MaxPreps, held its annual "Volley for a Cure" event on Thursday, Oct. 7. In the competition against De La Salle, Montini Catholic came out on top, 25-21, 25-12.

The event brought in $2,500 and Bronco families and friends are committed to continue this tradition of dedicating one game per season to this worthwhile cause.

Team members and their mothers were geared up for the evening and sold baked goods, T-shirts, and other goodies before and during the games in support of the National Breast Cancer Foundation, founded in 1991 by breast cancer survivor Janelle Hail.

The foundation continues to grow every year to help more and more women around the world by educating them about breast cancer and providing free mammograms to women in need.

"Volley for a Cure is and always has been one of my favorite events," said head varsity coach Patricia Samolinski. "It's amazing to be able to come together and use volleyball as a way to raise money for such a great cause. Our parents' efforts and organization combined with the school's support made it one of the best years we have had!"
