Glenbard Parent Series to host online conversation Sept. 23 about therapy and anxiety

Gottlieb brings a unique perspective on therapy from both sides of the couch. One day, she is helping patients at her therapeutic practice in Los Angeles and the next, she finds herself in a crisis and seeking a therapist of her own. In this conversation and in her groundbreaking book, "Maybe You Should Talk to Someone," Gottlieb opens up about her experience as both a professional and a patient.
Gottlieb will be interviewed by nationally acclaimed author and columnist Lisa Damour. In addressing the epidemic of stress and anxiety in our teens and in adults' daily lives, Gottlieb and Damour will engage in a conversation that will examine additional anxieties about the process of therapy and how to best deal with uncertainty in these challenging times.
Gottlieb is a psychotherapist and author of the New York Times bestseller "Maybe You Should Talk to Someone," which is being adapted as a television series. She writes The Atlantic's weekly "Dear Therapist" advice column and is co-host of "Dear Therapists" podcast.
A community address about teen mental health will follow with Glenbard District 87 Assistant Superintendent of Student Services Janet Cook.
