Enjoy German music and food at Itasca Oktoberfest Sept. 9-11
This year's Itasca Oktoberfest event will include a family carnival for all to enjoy.
The 14th annual festival will be 6:30 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 9; 4 to 10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 10; and 1 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 11 in Washington Park, Irving Park and Bloomingdale roads. Admission and parking are free.
There also will be a special Family Fun Day from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 12.
Listen to some live German music with some of your favorite bands. On Thursday, it will be the Bratwurst Brothers from 6:30 to 8 p.m., followed on Friday by the Alpine Brothers from 7 to 10 p.m. On Saturday, the Euro Express will perform from 1 to 8 p.m. and the Johnny Wagner Band from 7 to 10 p.m.
Mayor Jeff Pruyn will be tapping the first keg on Friday.
Carnival wristbands will be sold onsite at the carnival for $25 or $30 on Friday. All-you-can-ride specials are all day Friday and Saturday, and 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
You can purchase wristbands at a discounted through Sept. 8 at the Itasca Park District. Resident wristbands are $18; you must show proof of residency. Nonresident wristbands are $20.
Enjoy authentic German food, prepared by Catering With Elegance, including spaetzle, pork with red cabbage, bratwurst, sauerkraut, and pretzels.
Buy a German hat for $3 or two for $5. All proceeds go to the Itasca Walk-In Ministry and the Itasca Food Pantry.
