Dr. Michael G. Earing to lead cardiology for Chicagoland Children's Health Alliance

The Chicagoland Children's Health Alliance has named Michael G. Earing, MD, as its new division director of pediatric cardiology.

The alliance, a partnership between Advocate Children's Hospital, Pediatrics at NorthShore University HealthSystem and UChicago Medicine Comer Children's Hospital, supports patients' and families' needs for the highest level of pediatric care with easier access to our network of pediatricians and pediatric subspecialists across the Chicago area.

Dr. Earing will also join Luca Vricella, MD, division director of cardiovascular surgery, in leading the overall Chicagoland Children's Health Alliance heart program.

Dr. Earing comes to the Alliance from Children's Hospital of Wisconsin, where he was a professor of internal medicine and pediatrics, medical director of the Adult Congenital Heart Disease Program and medical director of the Marfan and Related Connective Tissue Disorder program. He was also medical director of regional services for the Children's Specialty Group and associate medical director of regional services for the Herma Heart Institute. In these roles, Dr. Earing is credited with developing one of the country's top adult congenital heart programs.

"I am excited to welcome Dr. Michael Earing to the team," says Frank Belmonte, DO, co-chief medical officer, Chicagoland Children's Health Alliance. "Dr. Earing brings vast experience in clinical network development and adult congenital heart disease. In his role, he will work with Dr. Vricella to mature the integration of our cardiology and cardiovascular team and focus on the professional development of our cardiologists."

"Mike Earing is not only a national leader in adult congenital heart disease, but has provided novel insights into the care of children and adults with structural heart defects," says John Cunningham, MD, Physician In Chief, Comer Children's Hospital. "Partnering with colleagues in cardiology, cardiac surgery and intensive care across the Alliance, I anticipate Dr. Earing will continue to develop innovative approaches that will enhance long-term outcomes for children and adults."

Dr. Earing earned his medical degree from Rush University Medical School and completed a residency in internal medicine and pediatrics at Rush Presbyterian St. Luke's Medical Center. He then completed both a pediatric cardiology and an adult congenital heart disease fellowship at Mayo Clinic in Rochester. Dr. Earing also has a master's in health administration from the University of Texas in Dallas. He is board certified in internal medicine, pediatrics, pediatric cardiology and adult congenital heart disease.

Consistently named among the best physicians in Milwaukee by the Milwaukee Business Journal, Dr. Earing is also the only doctor in that city to be named as a top doctor as both an adult and pediatric provider.

Dr. Earing has Adult Congenital Heart Clinics at both Advocate Children's Hospital-Oak Lawn and Comer Children's Hospital. To make an appointment with Dr. Earing, call (312) 674-2100.
