McHenry resident helps to feed staff at McHenry's Northwestern Hospital

McHenry resident Karen Murphy obtained 500 donated lunches (that's 100 lunches on five separate days consisting of sandwich, chips, salad, fruit, water and cookies each time) for the doctors, nurses and the staff at Northwestern Hospital in McHenry.

Karen has a heart that loves to serve where it's most needed. She donates her time as an event coordinator.

Usually she is busy getting ready every winter and spring for a rather large charity held at Campbell Airport in Grayslake raising funds for Wings of Mercy, but this year she knew she had to help out in her community. She knew that the doctors, nurses and staff have such a huge weight on their shoulders with COVID-19 going on. They barely have time to get and eat a healthy meal and take time for themselves, so this was a way she could say thank you to them. She also called all of the local nursing homes and asked if they could write thank you notes to the doctor's, nurses and staff at Northwestern McHenry. She herself also donated disinfectant wipes, hand sanitizer and surgical masks to the McHenry Police Department. Call the fire department and check in with all of those agencies periodically and ask if they need anything!

Karen would like everyone to take a look and see where they can use their talent and giftedness to help our community … there's always something, somewhere that you can do to make someone else's life better.
